Serano Excels, But Elite Win
|
Toledo designated hitter Pedro Serano had a good game, even if his team did not. The Stingers dropped a 6-3 decision to Detroit at Pacesetter Park. Serano belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Detroit reliever Salim Fakhir picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Adam Durango shouldered the loss. Earning his 13th save for Detroit was King Kelly.
Detroit used the timely hitting of Steve Washington to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Elite on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"It was a solid team effort," said Washington after the game.
Detroit, at 35-43, sits in 8th place in the Third League.
