The Toledo Stingers got a stellar effort from pitcher Ángel Silva, helping Toledo score a 2-0 win over the visiting Detroit Elite. Toledo leads the Third League by 5½ games.

The game was on the line with two out in the top of the ninth inning, but Yoriyoshi Sugimoto didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Detroit trailing 2-0, Sugimoto retired Shimei Miura to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Sugimoto, with a wink.
