Victory Over Elite Takes Toledo to 55-21
Detroit first baseman Scott Kerin was sensational. He was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Toledo beat the Elite, 6-5. Kerin was named the player of the game despite the loss. The save went to Yoriyoshi Sugimoto, his 22nd this season. Toledo has an impressive 55-21 record.

Had Baldomero Avino not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Avino hit a 2-run double. That made the score 6-4, in favor of the Stingers.

Avino told a Toledo Daily News reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
