Stingers Fitzgerald Tames Thunder Bay
The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC had no answer today for Toledo Stingers pitcher Craig Fitzgerald. They failed to score a single run against him, losing 14-0. Thunder Bay managed only 7 hits off Fitzgerald, who had 9 strikeouts.

The extraordinarily popular Fitzgerald got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd.

"Stingers fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible."

So far this year Fitzgerald has compiled a 8-1 record with a 2.73 ERA.
