With first baseman Yao-pang Chiang leading the charge, the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC defeated the Vancouver Grey Wolves, 3-2, at Wolf Den in Vancouver. Chiang, who is on pace for 68 RBI this season, went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Luis Cuevas got credit for the save for Thunder Bay. It was his 2nd of the year. The Northern Lions BC move to 14-34 with the win, while the Grey Wolves drop to 24-24.
Thunder Bay took the lead in the top of the fifth when Chiang hit a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season made the score 3-1, Thunder Bay.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Thunder Bay skipper Scott Williams.
