The Toledo Stingers beat the Echo Park Lakers, 6-2, at Pacesetter Park. The win was largely due to the efforts of designated hitter Pedro Serano, who captured player of the game honors. He was 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs. The Lakers, now 21-26, have lost 5 in a row.
Serano had a game-changing single in the bottom of the seventh. On a 0-2 fastball from Craig Wash, he banged a run-scoring single to left, giving the Stingers a 3-2 lead. It was the 58th hit of the year for Serano.
"We'll savor this win," Serano told the Toledo Daily News, "then get ready for the next game."
