Warriors Come Up Short at Pennsauken
|
The Forest City Warriors got a sterling performance from first baseman Lauren Hilfiker, but the Flyers still prevailed, 5-4. Hilfiker was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times. Scott Alexander earned the save, his 8th. The win puts the Flyers at 40-32, while the Warriors drop to 34-38.
With runs few and far between, the Flyers had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Pennsauken came in the bottom of the second inning, when first baseman Mike Case delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off Hsiao-lou Lei and made the score 4-0, Flyers. Case went 1 for 5.
"I felt good up there," said Case. "I saw the ball well."
