Dodos Dump Coyotes, 5-2
|
The Hialeah Dodos knocked off the Hamilton Coyotes, 5-2, at Coyote Wildlife Refuge. Sergio San Martín, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Hialeah won. The second baseman was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Clint Kirk got the win, improving to 5-3. He held the Coyotes to 2 earned runs on 5 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 1. The save went to John Stevens, his 1st this season.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and one out in the top of the fifth inning. That's when designated hitter Eddie Neef drew a walk. The Dodos went on to win.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Dodos manager Zach King. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
Hialeah is now 26-37. Hamilton is 24-39.
