The Monongahela Monsters got a stellar performance from pitcher Gabriel Durango, who handcuffed the Baton Rouge offense en route to a 2-1 win at Timber Hawks Ballpark. Monongahela reliever Wes Gilmore was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Muoi Hoan. The Brass, now 24-23, have lost 4 straight.
Late-game drama came in the bottom of the tenth inning. With no one out and the bases empty, the batter, Román García, hit a single. It helped Monongahela seize the win.
In comments to the Monongahela Daily, Durango admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
