Big Day for Rintanen as Men Down Brass, 6-2
|
Pellervo Rintanen left his imprint on the 6-2 Florida win against the Baton Rouge Brass. Rintanen went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Kullervo Hostikka earned the win for Florida. He lasted 6.1 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 6 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 3-2. Melvin Conner got credit for the save for Florida. It was his 2nd of the year.
Rintanen had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a first pitch fastball from Carlos Cardoso, he banged a grand slam home run to right, giving the Men a 5-2 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Rintanen.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Rintanen said after the game.
Florida is now 16-25, while Baton Rouge is 22-19.
