Dodos Win at Baton Rouge, 5-2
|
The Baton Rouge Brass and Hialeah Dodos were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd at Brass Field.
The Hialeah Dodos took Baton Rouge pitcher Labeeb bin Muneer's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Brass Field. The final score had Hialeah getting past the Brass, 5-2. bin Muneer went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs, striking out 8. Hialeah reliever Mike Park was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Labeeb bin Muneer took the loss. Wendell Drabek, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 6th save.
Hialeah used the timely hitting of Manuel Ruíz to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Dodos on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Hialeah manager Zach King. "Our pregame was pretty good."
Even with the win, the Dodos have a dismal 9-23 record.
