Squirrel Monkeys Throttle Flyers, 5-1

The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys topped the Pennsauken Flyers, 5-1, in USSL Triple A action at The Zoo in Syracuse. The player of the game was Syracuse pitcher and St. Albert, Canada native Dave McAlear. Chris Plautz was called on to finish, recording his 8th save. The win brings the Squirrel Monkeys to 11-5, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
In the bottom of the fifth, Syracuse catcher Pancho Hernández had a productive at-bat. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out, Hernández stroked a 3-run home run to right. It made the score 4-1, Syracuse. For the game, he was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," McAlear said.
