Bakersfield and Norfolk duked it out at Norfolk Field and the Nobles came out victorious.
The Bakersfield Nobles grabbed a 5-4 win over the Norfolk Pajaritos at Norfolk Field. Bakersfield designated hitter Steve Lodge was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs to earn player of the game honors. Bakersfield reliever Jeremy Gonzáles picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Hunter Summers was collared with the loss.
Bakersfield used the timely hitting of Ángel López to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put the Nobles on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We take it day by day here," said Lodge, "and today was a good one for us."
Bakersfield is now 68-33, 6½ games up in the Premier AAA.
