Drummers Lose, 3-1, at Jersey City Grounds
|
The Jersey City Tritons and Tortolita Drummers played a tight game at Jersey City Grounds, with the hosts claiming the hard-fought win.
Jersey City starter Clément Moreno put a stranglehold on the Tortolita offense. The left-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Tritons to a 3-1 win. Moreno got the win, improving to 1-4. He allowed 8 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. Moreno allowed 1 earned run. Holden Rosen Grupp got the save, his 13th in 15 chances.
Henrique de Senna Fernandes drove in one run for Jersey City. The 31-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Zhao-hui Li. It was his 16th RBI of the season.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Tritons manager Jack Alexander, "I like our chances."
Tortolita has now lost 5 in a row.
