Brass Stun Dodos, 7-5
|
The Baton Rouge Brass defeated the Hialeah Dodos, 7-5, at Dodos Ballpark today. Leading the charge for Baton Rouge was second baseman Jamy Geertsen. He went 2-4 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. Baton Rouge reliever Chris Floyd was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. John Stevens took the loss for Hialeah. Orynn Veillon locked down his 1st save.
Geertsen had a game-changing double in the top of the ninth. On a first pitch fastball from John Stevens, he banged a 2-run double to right, giving the Brass a 7-5 lead. It was the 1st double of the year for Geertsen.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Geertsen told the Baton Rouge Chronicle.
Baton Rouge has a mark of 4-6 after the win.
