In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
Jerry Scott had a big hand in Syracuse's 7-3 triumph over Monongahela. He rattled off 4 hits in 5 at-bats, scoring 2 times and knocking in 1 runs. For his performance, Scott was named player of the game. Dave McAlear, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held Monongahela to 3 earned runs on 5 hits over 7.2 innings, while racking up 8 strikeouts.
The two teams provided some entertaining baseball for the Timber Hawks Ballpark crowd. Regardless of the outcome, a good time was had by all.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Scott.
The loss drops Monongahela to 5-4.
