Starks Come Up Short at Port Royal
|
The Port Royal Disaster overcame a good performance by Syracuse right fielder Pepe Savinon to knock off Syracuse, 8-7, at Ballpark of Port Royal. Savinon was 3-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Port Royal reliever Peace Addo was the winner. His record is now 4-4. Jason Sanders took the loss. With the victory, the Disaster record now stands at 33-54.
Port Royal took advantage of an error in the bottom of the eighth inning. The game was tied, 7-7, when Michael Brannon hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put Port Royal in front, 8-7.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Disaster manager Soseki Matsunaga. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
