Nobles Walk Off with 5-4 Win
|
The Bakersfield Nobles beat the Tortolita Drummers, 5-4 at Jerome Grounds, in part due to left fielder Domingo Reyes, who nabbed player of the game honors. He was 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Bakersfield reliever Skip Walker picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-1. Ignacio Uribe was collared with the loss. Bakersfield has an impressive 58-27 record.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Chut-sai Meng came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Tortolita pitcher Ignacio Uribe, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting Bakersfield on top, 5-4.
"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," Reyes said.
