Victory Pushes Nobles Record to 56-27
|
The Bakersfield Nobles trumped the Hartford Pride, 4-3, at Pride Park. Bakersfield designated hitter Steve Lodge was named player of the game for his performance. He went 3-4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Rhys Maskell, who went 8.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 10 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 1-1. Bing-zhong Qiu, credited with the save, is now 2 for 4 in save opportunities.
Had Brevyn Spann-Ford not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Spann-Ford hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Nobles.
"I like our moxie," said Nobles manager José Gonzáles.
The Nobles have an impressive 56-27 record.
