Starks Topple Rocks with Late Rally
|
The Syracuse Starks defeated the Plymouth Rocks, 6-5, at Stark Stadium today. Leading the charge for Syracuse was third baseman Patrick Mildren. He went 2-5 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Harold Hunter picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-3. Monte Evans was tagged with the loss. The Starks raised their record to 38-41.
The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with Syracuse trailing 5-2, Mildren hit a fastball from Monte Evans for a grand slam home run, giving the Starks the walk-off win.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Mildren.
