The Starks had to overcome a fine effort from Jersey City pitcher Sean Murphy to grab a narrow 4-3 win at Jersey City Grounds. Murphy went 8 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. James Lendell Basford got the win, improving to 4-6. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 2. Harold Hunter notched his 2nd save in 3 chances.

It could have been a different outcome for Syracuse, had it not been for Luther H. Greene, the 26-year old catcher . Greene contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Syracuse up, 4-3.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Greene. "And not try to do too much."

The Starks saw their win-loss record go to 35-35. At the same time, the Tritons fell to 30-40.
