The Greenville 84s faced a tough opponent in Buffalo pitcher Bertrand Scotton, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Beyond the Wall by a final score of 4-2. Scotton went 6.2 innings and allowed no earned runs. The winner was Greenville reliever Dave Lawson, now 4-0. The loser was Butch Cummings. The 84s own a robust 33-16 mark.
Greenville used the timely hitting of Craig Woods to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the 84s on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It feels good to get this one," Woods told the Greenville Daily News.
