The Squirrel Hill Pierogis defeated the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs, 5-3, in USSL Double A action at Experimental Stadium, with Squirrel Hill pitcher Todd Hunter named player of the game. Squirrel Hill reliever Jang-lu Moy was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Clancy Daly took the loss for Gwinnett. Robert Erickson earned the save for Squirrel Hill, his 5th of the year.

Squirrel Hill used the timely hitting of Ryan McCarty to capture the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Pierogis on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.

Hunter said he was "thrilled" the fans had something to get excited about.

Squirrel Hill is now 12-17, while Gwinnett is 18-11.
