Behind a solid performance from second baseman Lonnie Doble, the Tortolita Drummers defeated the Syracuse Starks, 16-4. Doble was 2-3 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Drummers. The 4th-place Drummers are now 32-28, the Starks 32-28.

Tortolita used the timely hitting of Hayes Rutherford to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Drummers ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it was an important one.
