Rocks Come Up Short at Sacramento
|
Plymouth got a terrific performance from pitcher Alberto Álvarez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Sacramento Redlegs. Sacramento won the Sacramento Sanitation Station contest, 3-2. Álvarez was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. The winner was Gonzalo Rossi, who threw 101 pitches over 7.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 9 hits. Sacramento goes to 24-35, Plymouth to 21-38.
De-wei Chi was 1-3 with a walk for Sacramento. The 25-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Driscoll Craft. It was his 6th walk of the season.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Sacramento manager Marshall Edwards.
