Derksen Helps Starks Run Win Streak to 8
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Akke Derksen, the Syracuse Starks defeated the Tortolita Drummers, 10-4. Derksen went 1 for 2 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5 for the Starks. Syracuse reliever Jason Sanders picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Gabriel Leeds absorbed the loss. The winning streak has now reached 8 games for the Starks.

Syracuse took a 8-4 lead on Derksen's 10th home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which he hit off Gabriel Leeds in the bottom of the seventh, propelled Syracuse to the win.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Derksen told the Syracuse News.
