Whales Get Win, Extend Streak to 4
Virginia Beach starter Ronald Fritz put a stranglehold on the Squirrel Hill offense. The right-hander had complete command of his splitter in leading the Whales to a 3-1 win. Fritz, the winner, moves to 2-1. He threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 2 walks. Eliseo Fontirroig picked up the save, his 3rd.

Virginia Beach used the clutch hitting of Victor Jensen to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Whales ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Fritz said.

Virginia Beach has now won 4 straight.
