Syracuse pitcher James Lendell Basford did his part in helping his team beat the Tortolita Drummers, 5-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The 'W' lifts Syracuse's record to 22-23.

Syracuse took a 2-1 lead on Atanza Vongor's 6th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Vongor hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Tortolita pitcher Scott Thompson shaking his head.
