Whales Come Back Late, Nip Ghosts
|
The Casper Ghosts got a sterling performance from pitcher Mark Smith, but the Whales still prevailed, 5-4. Smith was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball. The Ghosts fall to 6-14 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2043 season.
Woody Maxwell, who is tied for 2nd in the SAA in home runs with 7, contributed to the Virginia Beach win with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 RBI.
