Atoms Roll Over Nationals, 9-4
|
The Bethesda Atoms beat the Ottawa Nationals, 9-4, at Atoms Field. The win was largely due to the efforts of designated hitter Adrian Beard, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Bethesda, now 12-7, has played well in the early going.
Beard came through with some timely hitting for Bethesda. With the score 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth and two down, Beard hit a 1-2 splitter for a 2-run double. His 2nd double of the season made it 4-2, Bethesda.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Beard.
