White Walkers Get One-Run Win at St. Louis
|
The White Walkers had to overcome a fine performance from St. Louis pitcher Valentin Calhamar to grab a 4-3 win at The BFIB. Calhamar allowed 2 earned runs over 6 innings. Suezo Amano, credited with the win, is now 2-2. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. Butch Cummings got credit for the save for Buffalo. It was his 4th of the year.
Had Yoritomo Sato not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Sato hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the White Walkers.
St. Louis manager Scott McMahon said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
Even with the win, the White Walkers have a dismal 11-33 record.
