Guinea Pigs Subdue Akron, 6-4
|
With shortstop Mhelter Tejano leading the charge, the Gwinnett Guinea Pigs defeated the Akron Blimps, 6-4, at Experimental Stadium. Tejano, who is tied for 3rd in the SAA in stolen bases with 8, was 2-2 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs. Earning his 1st save for Gwinnett was Dario Zorander. The Guinea Pigs raised their record to 10-6.
Gwinnett took a 5-4 lead on Luis Ortíz's 27th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Ortíz hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Akron pitcher Michael Ramsey shaking his head.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Ortíz said after the game.
