Rainbow Mermaids Win at Boston, 8-7
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids defeated the Boston Patriots, 8-7, at Dunkin Donuts Park today. Leading the charge for Northern Virginia was right fielder Sherman Kline. He was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Northern Virginia reliever Mario Quintero picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Leo Ingelbrigtsen shouldered the loss. The Rainbow Mermaids now have a record of 19-24 with the win over Boston.
Northern Virginia took a 8-7 lead on Dao-zi Zhan's 26th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Zhan hit in the top of the seventh, left Boston pitcher Leo Ingelbrigtsen shaking his head.
Rainbow Mermaids manager David Lister wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
