Lighthouse Squelch Rainbow Mermaids Offense in Shutout Win
The Long Island Lighthouse went home winners at Atlantica, thanks in large part to starter Melvin Tiburcio. Tiburcio silenced the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, enabling Long Island to grab the 6-0 win. Long Island reliever Melvin Tiburcio got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Sean Jones was tagged with the loss. Things have gone south in a hurry for the defending champion Lighthouse, who notched only their 2nd win in 5 games.

León Castillo put Long Island in front, 3-0, when he hit a 2-run home run off Sean Jones in the top of the first. It was his 2nd home run of the season.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Long Island manager Michael Esposito.
