Atoms Clip Blimps in Tight Contest
|
The Bethesda Atoms faced a tough opponent in Akron pitcher Lance Mascola, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Goodyear Hanger Dome by a final score of 6-2. Mascola went 7.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Bethesda reliever Robert Karabanov picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Gypsyamber D'Souza absorbed the loss. The loss drops Akron to 3-6.
Bethesda used the timely hitting of Mhelter Narcida to capture the win. The pinch hitter socked a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Atoms ahead, 6-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Narcida said after the game.
