Drummers Get One-Run Win at Norfolk
|
With designated hitter Gene Blanton leading the charge, the Tortolita Drummers defeated the Norfolk Pajaritos, 5-4, at Norfolk Field. Blanton was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Tortolita improves to 10-7 as they look to defend their championship.
Had Fernando Rincón not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Rincón hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Drummers.
"I was a little disappointed," said Norfolk manager Curt Kenney. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
