Nobles Squelch Pride Offense in Shutout Win
|
Bakersfield starter Aldo Ottens put a stranglehold on the Hartford offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Nobles to a 5-0 win. Ottens went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-1. The loss lowers the Hartford record to 3-9.
Tied up with the Pride in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Nobles got a boost from center fielder Asbel Kiprop. With a runner on 1st, Kiprop saw a 1-2 cutter from Ismael Calderón and hit a run-scoring double to break the stalemate and put Bakersfield on top, 1-0.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Kiprop said.
