Akron center fielder Alohinani Puanani played a vital role in his team's 7-4 triumph over Gulf Coast. He was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 3 runs for Akron. Akron reliever Michael Ramsey picked up the win to move to 1-0. Hugh Hudson suffered the loss. Gypsyamber D'Souza, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.

Akron used the timely hitting of Hun-hyeon Kang to capture the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blimps on top, 7-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Puanani told the Akron News.

With the win, Akron is 3-2.
