Sacramento left-hander Don Johnson made an effective start against the Norfolk Pajaritos at Norfolk Field, leading his team to a 4-1 win. Sacramento reliever Larry Benítez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Georges Cormier was saddled with the loss. The loss drops Norfolk to 3-4.

Sacramento used the timely hitting of Paulino Gómez to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Redlegs on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I give credit to my teammates for this win. We got it done," Gómez told the Sacramento News.
