Rails Win in Extras
|
Crowds lined up early in front of Rails Ballpark, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2043 M3L Double A season. On the mound was Jason Reynolds for the visiting Marquette Miners and Isaac Gunner for the hometown Richland Rails. In a spirited contest, the Rails pulled out the win, defeating the Miners by the score of 2-1. Earning player of the game honors was Isaac Gunner. Miguel Bruno picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Jeff Moore was tagged with the loss.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Glenn Seals came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Marquette pitcher Jeff Moore, he hit a 2-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Richland on top, 2-1.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Gunner told the Richland Gazette.
