The Salt Lake City Buzz eked out a 3-2 win versus the Austin Black Mambas at Mamba Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Emerson Horton, who captured player of the game honors. Horton, now 5-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing 1 earned run. Bumper Pool, credited with the save, is now 9 for 15 in save opportunities.
It could have been a different outcome for Salt Lake City, had it not been for Josh Wiggins, the 27-year old shortstop . Wiggins contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to put Salt Lake City up, 3-1.
"Both teams played hard," said Salt Lake City manager Greg Keys.
Salt Lake City now sits at 53-43, while Austin falls to 43-53.
