Behind a solid performance from second baseman Ramón Torres, the Austin Black Mambas defeated the Salt Lake City Buzz, 5-2. Torres went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times for the Black Mambas. Austin reliever Glenn Douglas was the winner. His record is now 3-1. The losing pitcher was Denie Coppens. Tadayuki Ito was credited with the save for Austin, his 2nd of the season.

Austin used the timely hitting of Elijah Scott to capture the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Black Mambas on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.

Scott called the triumph "a good team win."

The Black Mambas are now 43-51, while the Buzz fall to 51-43.
