Tight Tilt Goes to Fighting Dachsunds, 3-2
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds eventually prevailed at Spirits Stadium.
The Fighting Dachsunds faced a stiff challenge from Salt Lake City pitcher Masao Myoga, but persevered to claim a win at Spirits Stadium. The final score was 3-2. Myoga went 7 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Cecil Drabek picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work. He allowed 2 earned runs on 5 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 2. On the season, he is now 8-6.
Ellenburg used the timely hitting of Mike Johnstone to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Fighting Dachsunds ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," Johnstone told the Ellenburg Observer.
Ellenburg is in second place in the Menard's AAA with a record of 51-32.
