Fighting Dachsunds Score Late, Upend Knights, 7-6
|
The Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds scored a 7-6 win versus the Nolensville Knights at Dog Park in Ellenburg. Ellenburg first baseman Mike Johnstone nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Eric Manchester picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-1. Carlos Simon was tagged with the loss. The save went to Pedro Huerta, his 10th this season.
Ellenburg grabbed control in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, Bill Knight delivered a run-scoring double, to make it 7-6 in favor of the Fighting Dachsunds.
"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Johnstone told the Ellenburg Observer.
Ellenburg, at 46-29, occupies second place in the Menard's AAA.
