Castro Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits
A jubilant Javier Castro joined the postgame press conference at Dog Park in Ellenburg today to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Sioux Falls Red Pandas pitching staff he had just vanquished.

"It may not have looked like it," said the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds right fielder, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."

That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-5 hitting performance, which led the Fighting Dachsunds to a 15-1 win.

"He made it look easy," said Steve Ward, manager of the Red Pandas. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."

Javier Castro hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a three-run double in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

This year Castro is hitting .275 with 8 home runs and 36 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .358 clip and scored 27 runs.
