Lake Monsters Go Down to Defeat, 9-6
|
The Santa Barbara Golden Cranes dealt the Vermont Lake Monsters a 9-6 loss at Crane Field. Yin-fat Fou was the star on offense. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Santa Barbara reliever Ron Mingo picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Virgil Cook shouldered the loss. Willie Steele recorded the save for Santa Barbara, his 17th of the season.
Eisse van Barneveld, who is tied for 3rd in the 3AAA in extra base hits with 30, chipped in for Santa Barbara with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Fou told reporters after the game.
