Black Mambas Win at Sioux Falls, 3-2
|
The Austin Black Mambas scored a 3-2 win versus the Sioux Falls Red Pandas at The Bamboo Forest. Austin pitcher Joel Walden nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Walden got the win, improving to 1-2. He allowed 5 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. Walden allowed 1 earned run. Tadayuki Ito nailed down his 1st save.
It could have been a different outcome for Austin, had it not been for John Polk, the 29-year old shortstop . Polk contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fifth inning to put Austin up, 3-1.
"We were in it," said Sioux Falls manager Steve Ward. "We just didn't score enough runs."
At 20-29, the Black Mambas find themselves in 11th place in the Menard's AAA.
