Black Mambas Get One-Run Win at Santa Barbara
Santa Barbara got a terrific game from second baseman Richard Edwards. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Austin, 8-7. Edwards was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 2 for 5 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. With the victory, the Black Mambas record now stands at 15-22.

Austin used the bat of Bill Gatacre to get the win. The center fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Black Mambas ahead, 5-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Santa Barbara manager Pedro León. "But we decided not to take it."
