Reserves Lose Again, 3-1, to Blitzkrieg
|
Getting a good performance from right fielder Niek Bendt, the Port Huron Blitzkrieg defeated the Athletic Club KC Reserves, 3-1. Bendt was 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs for the Blitzkrieg. Martin Luther earned the win for Port Huron. He lasted 6.2 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 7 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 2-2. Getting the save was Jim Harris, his 5th.
Port Huron catcher Jesús Amengual contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a fastball into left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 8th hit of the season and put the Blitzkrieg ahead, 3-1.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Bendt said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
Athletic Club KC is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 7 in a row.
