Lake Monsters Clip Knights, 5-4
|
Nolensville Park was the site of a competitive game between the Nolensville Knights and Vermont Lake Monsters.
Vermont beat Nolensville at Nolensville Park, eking out a 5-4 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Mike Hess, who earned player of the game honors. Hess picked up the win for Vermont, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 4 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 2-2. Getting the save was Casey Ball, his 6th.
Vermont used the bat of Takeshi Kovacs to capture the win. The left fielder jacked a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Lake Monsters ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Kovacs told the Vermont Bulletin.
With the victory, the Lake Monsters record now stands at 8-13.
